Research

Current research interests at the EPC Lab.

Nano-Bio Phenomena

We seek to elucidate the antimicrobial mechanisms of engineered nanomaterials, such as graphene.

Further information can be found in our recent publication titled "Interaction of graphene oxide with bacterial cell membranes: insights from force spectroscopy".

Surface Fouling

We aim to understand and mitigate the non-specific adsorption of molecules, macromolecules, colloids and bacterial cells at aqueous interfaces.

An area of special emphasis is membrane fouling.

Further information can be found in our recent publication titled "Amine enrichment and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) surface modification of thin-film composite forward osmosis membranes for organic fouling control".

Membrane Transport Theory

We employ molecular simulation to understand interfacial processes and transport in membrane materials.

Further information: "Effect of surface polarity on the structure and dynamics of water in nanoscale confinement".
